This colorful ribbon is from a reunion of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) for the Garfield Post No. 25 in Wichita, Kansas. The GAR was formed in 1866 and was a veteran’s organization for soldiers and sailors of the Union Army. The GAR had significant political power in the election of politicians after the Civil War. It measures 7 1/2″ long and is in good condition. A little of the gold lettering is missing and a few minor folds in the cloth, but overall it displays nicely.
