This colorful pinback shows the ocean cruise liner Lusitania. It was sunk by a German submarine in May 1915 killing almost 1.200 civilians including many Americans. This sinking and similar aggression by the German military would result in the United States entering WWI. It measures 7/8″ across and is in nice condition.

Lusitania Pinback circa 1915

This colorful pinback shows the ocean cruise liner Lusitania. It was sunk by a German submarine in May 1915 killing almost 1.200 civilians including many Americans.  This sinking and similar aggression by the German military would result in the United States entering WWI.   It measures 7/8″ across and is in nice condition but there is a small spot near the forward flag. The backpaper is for the “American Baptist Publication Society / Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago and St Louis”.  This was from a set of pinbacks that were awarded to children for good behavior.
