The backpaper is for “American Pepsin Gum Co. / Buttons made by Whitehead & Hoag.” It is marked on the curl “Pat July 21, 1896.” This was from a set of Civil War pinbacks produced in the 1900 period.

This pinback shows an unidentified Union Major General in uniform. It measures 13/16″ across and is in good condition.
