Two Stadium Baseball Bats 1920s PCL Hollis Thurston

$80.00

I have two small baseball bats for Hollis “Sloppy” Thurston who played in the Pacific Coast League and the Majors from 1920 to 1938 and would stay involved in baseball into the 1960s. These bats should be from his PCL days in either 1928 or 1929 (when he was playing first base).  The smaller bat is 7 3/4″ long and is in good condition but the inscription with his name and “First Base” are readable but a little light. The larger bat is 16″ long and is in very good condition. On the barrel is the official “Louisville Slugger / Hillerich & Bradsby Co. / Louisville KY” and “Compliments Hollis Thurston First Base.”   The price for the pair is $80.00.

Two Stadium Baseball Bats 1920s PCL Hollis Thurston

I have two small baseball bats for Hollis “Sloppy” Thurston who played in the Pacific Coast League and the Majors from 1920 to 1938 and would stay involved in baseball into the 1960s. These bats should be from his PCL days in either 1928 or 1929 (when he was playing first base). One story states that Hollis received his nickname from his father who ran a restaurant and made “sloppy joe” sandwiches. Hollis was a good pitcher and also a good hitter. The smaller bat is 7 3/4″ long and is in good condition but the inscription with his name and “First Base” are readable but a little light. The larger bat is 16″ long and is in very good condition.   On the barrel is the official “Louisville Slugger / Hillerich & Bradsby Co. / Louisville KY” and “Compliments Hollis Thurston First Base.”    Price for the pair is $80.00.
