1890s Lenox Bicycle Advertising Stud

Riding bicycles was extremely popular in the United States in the 1890s to early 1900s as it also served as a method of cheap transportation and entertainment for men and women. Most of the major bicycle companies made their own studs advertising their product. This celluloid stud is advertising Lenox Bicycles. Besides the Lenox Bicycles name it states “Dives, Pomeroy & Stewart” (which was a department store in Pottsville, Pennsylvania). It measures 13/16″ across and is in very good condition.

1890s Lenox Bicycle Advertising Stud

Riding bicycles was extremely popular in the United States in the 1890s to early 1900s as it also served as a method of cheap transportation and entertainment for men and women. Most of the major bicycle companies made their own studs advertising their product. This celluloid stud is advertising Lenox Bicycles. Besides the Lenox Bicycles name it states “Dives, Pomeroy & Stewart” (which was a department store in Pottsville, Pennsylvania).  It measures 13/16″ across and is in very good condition. The stud was manufactured by “Baldwin & Gleason NY”  (marked on the back).  See my website for other bicycle studs from the 1890s.
