Max Fleisher was a pioneering animator and the head of Fleisher Studios. He brought Popeye and other cartoon characters to the movie screen. This litho pinback is from the 1930s and has a cartoon drawing of Popeye. It measures 7/8″ across and is in very good condition. It is marked #37 and has the name “Thimble Theatre” along the bottom edge.  It is marked around the curl “Western Theatre Premium Co. / Los Angeles”.

1930s Popeye Los Angeles Pinback

Max Fleisher was a pioneering animator and the head of Fleisher Studios.  He brought Popeye and other cartoon characters to the movie screen.  This litho pinback is from the 1930s and has a cartoon drawing of Popeye.  It measures 7/8″ across and is in very good condition.  It is marked #37 (from a set of cartoon pinbacks) and has the name “Thimble Theatre” along the bottom edge.  The Popeye cartoons were extremely popular at the time.  It is marked around the curl “Western Theatre Premium Co. / Los Angeles”.  It may have been a give-away at a movie theatre.
