Here is a brass uniform button marked POD (Post Office Department) which shows a man in uniform with a Post Office style hat handing a letter to someone. The back is marked Superior Quality. It measures 7/8″ across and is in excellent condition. I think this uniform dates from the 1890s to 1910 period.
